Satellite operations for telecommunications and science

GMV INSYEN engineers are highly experienced in the complete life-cycle of satellite operations for telecommunications and science, from design and development through to routine operations.

Past and present missions include TerraSAR-X, TanDEM X, GRACE, Eutelsat, PAZ, EDRS and Galileo, the European global navigation satellite project, directed from the Galileo Control Centre in Oberpfaffenhofen.

Typical activities include participation in the design, specification, development, integration, test and acceptance certification of all control centre computing equipment necessary for satellite monitoring and control. This includes interaction with satellite manufacturers to ensure compliance of both satellite and ground computing systems with operational requirements.

GMV INSYEN is also involved in training and testing control room teams, supplying the necessary spacecraft operations procedure specifications, and arranging simulations with the spacecraft hardware itself, or corresponding simulators, so as to achieve team certification for operations.

Our engineers prepare and perform launch readiness tests and reviews, and participate in all phases of mission operations, from LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase), through commissioning (in orbit satellite test, validation and calibration), to the routine operational phase.

Also during routine operations, we perform around-the-clock satellite status monitoring, in-orbit maintenance and orbit control. We react immediately and professionally in case of on-orbit anomalies, to ensure minimum disturbance to science or operations returns.

GMV INSYEN engineers are intimately acquainted with the project standards required by the European Cooperation on Space Standardization (ECSS).
